Emerging Transportation Technologies — The Future is Now

Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016
Kauffman Foundation Conference Center
4801 Rockhill Road, Kansas City, Missouri

This workshop served as a primer on emerging technologies — such as smart infrastructure and autonomous vehicles — and their implications for our transportation systems. Presenters and panelists discussed current projects using these technologies and how local governments need to prepare to take full advantage of them.

Presenters and panelists:

Stephen Buckley most recently served as general manager of transportation services for the city of Toronto, responsible for all aspects of Toronto's transportation network, from streets, bridges, traffic signals and street signs, to sidewalks, boulevards, street furniture and right-of-way management. He led the city's scenario-based plan for autonomous vehicles.

Prior to that, he was director of policy and planning in the Mayor's Office of Transportation and Utilities in Philadelphia.
